DECEMBER/JANUARY 2019/20

The year 2019, like all others, has flown and we will soon be knocking on the door of 2020.

We hope you have found this year’s meetings and events interesting and enjoyable. We welcome feedback at any time so please let us know your thoughts as and when.

Remember to spread the word about the work of the Mothers’ Union and encourage friends to join you at meetings. After all, every meeting is an open one. The more new people who come along and see what we do, hopefully the more our numbers will grow.

LOOKING BACK ...

Martin Walker spoke to us about his hobby which involves making walking sticks and canes. He brought a selection from his collection to show. Martin made his first stick out of an old broom handle, which is a lesson to us all in recycling and up-cycling. Over the years he has experimented with different wood found on his walks. Martin’s sticks aren’t for sale. His ever growing collection is kept in his shed!

LOOKING FORWARD ...

The Christmas Fair is fast approaching on Saturday 7th December. If you’re able to help on the day by manning the MU stall and/or baking for the cake stall that would be great.

Most of us have our names down for this year’s Festive Meal at the Turf, on Tuesday December 10th, 12 noon for 12.30. If you intend coming please make sure you’re on the list and have paid your £12 per person to me by the end of November.

We begin the New Year of 2020 with the Eucharist and A.G.M. on Tuesday 14th January at 2pm. Our theme for the coming year is ‘Building Hope and Confidence’. We are busy putting together our new programme and aim to reflect this theme in some of our meetings. There will be two separate programmes this time, one for the first six months (January to June) and the other for July to December. Meetings are always on the second Tuesday (2pm) and fourth Tuesday (7.30pm) of each month unless otherwise stated.

Subs of £21.50 are due this January.  Please see Jean Beeston.
