Elaine and Jim presented their Antipodean Adventure (part 2!) to us in the afternoon of Tuesday, 12th March. I wasn’t able to be there, however, I was reliably informed by all who did attend that it was an excellent presentation. They had put together a PowerPoint of photos documenting their cruise from Australia to New Zealand. It made for an entertaining afternoon.

Thank you Elaine and Jim. Holidays of a lifetime are so special, but to be asked to present your memories to Mothers’ Union is an even more special honour!

Just tacking itself on to the end of March is our next evening meeting on Tuesday 26th at 7.30pm. It is A Midwife’s Tale and is presented by Linda Smith.

Beverley is leading our Lenten Meditation on Tuesday April 9th at 2pm in the community room.

The Annual Deanery Festival will be held at St. Leonard’s Church, Padiham on Tuesday, 23rd April at 7.30 and means there will be no April evening meeting for our branch. There is usually a rehearsal the previous evening for choir and those carrying the banner.

We are sending out Get Well Soon wishes to Marilyn Walsh. Marilyn is recovering from a knee operation, but has been having a particularly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We were all saddened by the death of Audrey Walton. Audrey had been a branch member for fifty four years, and a committee member for many of those. She retired from the committee in 2014, but was still able to come to meetings until she moved to Jalna. She was an excellent baker, always providing cakes, Parkin and perfect cream buns for the cake stalls.  Our heartfelt sympathy go out Audrey’s family.  She will be much missed.

Celebration Corner:

There are two birthdays to celebrate in April.

Marilyn’s is on the 12th and Lillian’s is on the 23rd. Many Happy Returns to the both of you.

Val and John Bishop will celebrate their wedding anniversary on April 4th. Best wishes for a wonderful day.
